[NEWS] UniWiki Downtime for Software Upgrades

Attention Capsuleers,

As many of you know, for years the UniWiki managed by EVE University has provided capsuleers all over New Eden access to the most comprehensive repository of knowledge on all things New Eden and Anoikis. Thanks to the countless hours of work by volunteers both within and outside (thank you!) EVE University, its archives of information grow every hour. Thank you to anyone that has ever made a wiki edit or contributed to the UniWiki in any way.

On behalf of EVE University, we want to inform you that the UniWiki‘s software will be upgraded by the Information Services Directorate of EVE Uni. As a result, the UniWiki will be offline for up to 48 hours. During this period, you will not be able to access the UniWiki. Please plan accordingly.

Scheduled Downtime:

Scheduled Downtime:

  • Start: Saturday, 22nd, 11:00, at EVE downtime
  • End: Saturday, 22nd, 15:00

The Directorate may postpone the upgrade slot for Sunday, 23rd, with the same start and end timeframe.

It is important to note that in the wake of these upgrades, it is possible that certain Wiki pages may look out of place or suffer broken formatting or appearances. We will do our level best to repair any broken pages as soon as possible, and rely on others to flag these pages to us or roll up their sleeves and get to work themselves. Editing the UniWiki is available to any Capsuleer logging in to the wiki through ESI, regardless of affliations. Those with questions about helping out or wanting to flag broken pages are always welcome to contact Wiki Manager Arin Mara (linked below) or jump into the EVE University Discord to talk to us in our public channels.

We apologise for any inconvenience and hope that you continue to enjoy the UniWiki’s unparalleled archives when they get their new coat of paint.

Warm regards,

Communications Manager Amfion Bravais

Wiki Manager, Arin Mara

Triglavian invasion of the UniWiki

Is nowhere safe from the Triglavian menace?

We caught up with Rayanth, our incumbent Wiki Manager to hear all about the recent Triglavian takeover of our wiki’s main page, here’s what he had to say.

In the summer of 2019, one of the UniWiki curators asked if it was possible to put the Triglavian font from the game files into the wiki, so they could demonstrate the language on a new page they were writing for the Triglavian lore.

I maintain a test copy of the UniWiki database on a private server, so I started playing around there to determine the feasibility. In my playing around, I accidentally edited the CSS such that ALL fonts on the test wiki were converted to Triglavian. Quickly realizing my mistake, I went to try and change it back only to realize that the Editor as well was illegible because of the font. It took a little doing to roll back the changes without being able to read anything 🙂

But the idea had merit. So I played with it some more and the result was only the front page being converted on the testwiki. I showed this to a few people, and the idea to push this to the live wiki was presented.

My original plan was to have this in effect throughout FanFest 2020, as an icebreaker for something to talk about, as it would be my first-ever EVE Community Event, let alone as the Wiki Manager. I was designing a custom t-shirt with E-Uni logos and UniWiki Manager emblazoned, and would have a triglavian version of the shirt as well…

Alas, FanFest 2020 was cancelled due to the Coronavirus, so much of my plans were shelved. The Triglavian Invasion was too fun to pass up, though, so I opted to keep working on it, as an April Fool’s gag.

CCP Games praises EVE University Wiki as a Featured Fansite

In a recent post by CCP Gargant, the EVE University Wiki, also known as the UNIWiki, was identified as a “Featured Fansite”, because of its value to both new and experienced players of EVE Online.

The UNIWiki is a free resource available to anyone. CCP Gargant wrote: “The wiki provides information on almost everything within EVE Online. Epic Arcs, mining, industry, PvP, ship types, Lore, and even scams have a section there, and that is by no means a finite list. I strongly suggest you head on over to see if you find something to your liking.”

Azmodeus Valar, CEO of EVE University, said, “Thanks for all the great words about the wiki. However, we can’t do it alone. We can always use help correcting out of date information, or adding new information.”
